Internal Wraps

Internal Wraps

A Poem by Courtney

Around, around
burning, gone
Fall to the ground
Were but a pawn

A piece in their game
Discarded anew
You as their claim
None more to do

You let them inside
Began by a choice
Allow to reside
Drowned of a voice

Running is futile
Now here to stay
Good now is vile
Escape not away

Thinning it all
Tearing the mind
Hitting the wall
Pact that will bind

Desperate wish
Unrealistic goal
Thoughts to lavish
Taking it's toll

Crowded inside
This box of a world
Happiness aside
Creation unfurled

Once was a light
Now hate and pain
Heat changes white
Ne'er to refrain

Choices in the past
Problems still today
Symptoms yet to last
Not to fade away

Melt into the back
hide it all from sight
Emotions set to crack
To hide a dreadful plight

Never good enough
Not even for yourself
Path smooth to rough
Displayed upon the shelf

Close to the surface
Yet no one can see
Obvious to miss
Deep within me

Crying within internal wraps
Pause can allow emotion relapse
