He Tried Finishing The Job

Chapter 2

Road blocks were set up through the state of New York. They were looking especially, for a black van that had fit the description. After a few hours, they called it in on the CB that the van had been found in the woods just past the New York border. Someone had called the crime hotline and reported seen it in Erie, Pa. They taped off the area and called in the crime seen investigators. Every inch of that van was checked. Caleb had thought he had wiped it completely clean, not realizing he had missed a spot under the seat. It was a fingerprint. They immediately rushed it to the forensics to be tested. Results were in immediately. It was Debbies.
Sgt. P. Dunn called Todd to let him know the van was found and about Debbies fingerprint. Todd was tired of sitting around waiting to hear any news. Immediately, he headed to the scene, only to be ordered to stay away and leave immediately. If not his gun and badge would have to be handed over. Todd took off his badge off, went to his truck, took his gun out and said, "You can have them. I won't be needing them." He was ordered to take personal leave and if he was caught near the police station or involved in the investigation in any way, he'd be fired.
Mr. Frame had just finished examining the body. He also just received news that the man found dead had been identified. The man's name was William Lee Howard, went by the nickname, Bucky. He had lived just a couple blocks away from Debs home.
Lt. Koda went over to the Howard's and knocked on the door. Mrs. Howard answered the door and said, "May I help you?" Lt. Koda said, "Mrs. Howard, I have some bad news." She began to cry and screamed, NO! NO!" She fell to the floor sobbing. The Lieutenant helped her up and walked her over to the couch. "Amber, may I call you that?" Asked Lt. Koda. She shook her head and said, "Yes!" "Amber I need you to come identify William at the morgue. We also need to ask you a few questions at the precincts." Lt. Kodi drove Mrs.Williams downtown. When she had seen her husband she said, "Why did you have to leave? She looked over at the lieutenant and said, "They are going to pay for killing him. I best not find out who had done this." They asked her if she had seen him the night before, she said, "No, he said he had a late meeting." "Can you prove you stayed home?" asked Ltd. Koda. She said, "Yes, my neighbor next door came over to play eucher." They finally let Amber go home.
Caleb stopped at a gas station. He was on empty. He had picked up a black '84 Ford Mustang, and ordered her to change her clothes in the back seat once they took off. If she tried anything funny, he'd do her in right then and there on the spot. He had untied her hands and pulled the tape off her mouth, once again was warned.
As Sgt. Pat Dunn opened the meeting to talk to the officers who were on call at the time, one if the officers named Sherri Love raised her hand. She said,"Don't you think it sounds a little fishy that John Miller, who described the van and people involved that night knew so much information? I mean what if he was actually involved?" Sgt. Dunn replied, "That's a good question, you're going to personally put you on this case, too. Do another background check on John Miller and see what you can find out."
Mr. Frame had cut the body open and seen the femur bone had a fracture from the gunshot. The bullet had gone right through and now we're going back to the crime seen to see if they could find the bullet. His heart had been wounded by the other bullet and still in the heart. Mr. carefully removed the bullet and sent it to the forensics be examined and used for evidence. Bucky had another bullet in the middle of the forehead. It caused his skull to break in many places. It went right through the back of his head.
Back at the crime scene, where the van had been found, they noticed they had burned some evidence. They carefully put the ashes in a bag and sent it to the forensics for testing. There was a piece of material from a pair of jeans, and wondered since it had been scorched they would be able to have it tested. Hopefully, they could get some results.
