Days NumberedA Poem by Country Girl47Tells how Red found out he had cancer and how he truly feels.
Red's days were numbered
Never smoked in his life. Received bad news from doc Accepted it with good spirits. He told the doctor, "I am ready to die." I've lived a good life these days Been a total of ten years now Christ, has been in my life to stay. "Christ paid the price, So heaven I could be. There I will spend eternity, With the rest of my family." Doctor said, "You are in good spirits, After receiving such bad news." "No one has ever acted this way." "Surprised you have such a good attitude, too." Red said, "God has moved Many mountains for me. He picked me up, especially When deep in the valley." "There is not one thing God cannot do." This is the very truth I am telling you, too." Doctor bowed his head, Said, "Would you tell me more?" "Tell me about the God you know." "Maybe life will be better, then before." Red said, "All you have to do Is bow your head and pray. Ask Him into your life To stay, right here today." "He wipes away all tears And sets the captive free. Sins will be washed away And victory you will see. A new person you become The happier you will be." Doctor bowed his head Gave his heart to Christ Thanked Him for being sent To pay the price. Doctor smiled, when he was through Said, "Someday I'll be there, To meet you at heaven's gates. That I do declare. " Few weeks later, Red had passed away. The doctor had spoke At the funeral that day. Told how Red lead him to Christ. He was now in a better place For heaven is such a beautiful site. Not one sin can you trace. As they lowered him in the grave, They began to rejoice and praise For he was heaven bound Saved by God's amazing grace. © 2015 Country Girl47 |
