He Chose To Be A SoldierA Poem by Country Girl46During high school years, he had to choose his career. A soldier he would be. Boot camp was pure hell, but refused to even quit, while they stood and yelled. It was through at last. Now in uniform, polished boots He stood brave and tall. Soon this brave soldier, would be sent over sea, to fight for you and me. The day he had left, yellow ribbons had been placed at home and in town. Vietnam War was pure hell. Land mines were everywhere, shots heard far and near. Enemies captured this very brave soldier, too. Threw him in prison. He had been beaten Tortured, almost killed. Would he soon go home? Finally, the day came when he was found. War was at last, through. He just had landed, he walked inside and their stood family and friends. They had planned a huge party just for him, so that he would be honored. When soldier's come home, please be sure to thank for our safety. © 2015 Country Girl46 |
