Lost my best friend

My only best friend,
I could count on til the end.
NOW GONE!

Only one to protect me,
when danger she would see.
NOW GONE!

My secrets she kept
even at night, while I slept.
NOW GONE!

By me, she'd remain,
for she knew I was in pain.
NOW GONE!

Took trips to the pond,
we had made a special bond.
NOW GONE!

Yesterday, she passed away,
Still feeling sad, yet today.
