Dressed In Red

Dressed In Red

A Poem by Country Girl46

Was a warm summer day
A slight breeze in the air
The jovial sun shined down
Casting a cheerful spell

By the lake she sat,
Dressed elegantly in red.
Waiting for the one she loved
To return from over sea.

She stood up, walked over
To the lake, felt the warm water
With her foot, when suddenly
Was embraced from behind.

She turned around to see,
Her Captain in uniform
Tears of joy began to fall
As he kissed her wet lips.

"Honey, I'm home for good.
I don't ever have to go over sea.
Together forever, just you and me."
