Don't Need the People to Have a Damn Good Time

Don't Need the People to Have a Damn Good Time

A Poem by Kelly A. Brown

reading the sick old poet

in the morning light

the breeze blowing upon my skin

sashaying my pores

the clouds moving across the sky like

angels,

knowing full well my peace of mind

is so temporary

and will soon be disturbed

by the nagging screaming mother

or the phone or the dollar or the rain or

the atomic bomb.

But, right now, right here, right in this moment

in time,

I feel

good.

Natural.

Undiscovered.

Untouched.

Perfectly balanced

and no one

may ever know

how serene life truly is

without them

in

it.
