American Beauty

American Beauty

A Poem by Kelly A. Brown

She's on the top of the world

looking down at the

turmoil

She carries on without a trouble, thinking

all the while that she's

Lucky

not to be one of them.

She dances in the street and smells

like

chrysanthemums and

sage with a hint of

amaretto.

Yeah, she's an

American

Beauty.

She sings in the shower and

her skin is soft like

butter cups and satin, she never

cries much,

impossible to be tricked into

martyrdom.

She lives life like a

Dionysian lover of the

night and never passes without saying

Hello, How are you doing?

Yeah, she's an

American

Beauty.

She is nature incarnate, fertile

who blossomed like the

cherry blossoms and shines like a pink

sunset upon the

hills.

She writes a lot of poetry and drinks

cabernet

and never regrets her honest

mistakes.

She rides through the night like a

vixon and takes no

prisoners.

She seizes life like a Kerouackian

scholar and never runs inside when it

rains nor does she

wait until Happy Hour.

She is the woman who

you always wished you could

be, but you couldn't

Let Go.

Yeah, she's an

American

Beauty.
