Night LightsA Poem by Kelly A. Brown
Night Lights Lights always feel much brighter Whenever the night's alive In the after hours, we drink martini flowers When the music plays Infinity knows not time nor hour That's when I stand by your side We stand on stage, holding hands Our eyes twinkling for the invisible fans They all stare back, their waving hands Eyes wide open in Admiration A dream of our imagination Give you and I a standing ovation Every light upon our smiling faces say Let us all join hands and sing those songs from yesterday The ones we wrote when we had Much more time to sing them During recess, snack-time They all seemed to last a lifetime Close your eyes and look at the night sky See the moonlight? We are lost in a concert for the starlight Nobody wants to be alone now Nobody wants to be an orphan The audience shows us no resistance Our costumes sparkling from a distance These glamorous nights If only they could fight to live through the morning's power The amorous lights have our faces glowing While all the outside stares in at our loving The unconventional beauty Can't we keep on dancing after hours? Hours after closing Let the music play and sound thereafter Lust and passion, oh, song and laughter Feels like our love is never rationed Just keep on singing, close those doors We will dance until the morning calls When the lights are dimmer and the Sun is shining The morning light never seems as bright As the night's © 2008 Kelly A.
