Youth Culture

Youth Culture

A Poem by Kelly A. Brown

Youth Culture

They call you a member of the youth culture

The bigotry

Who say it's a tribe of heathens, obsessions, heads infected with

ADHD

A Ritalin cloud of mindless air

That lacks the knowledge to succeed in the world out there

They say you'll be sucked into your television screens

Computer beams

IPOD dreams

Myspace screams

But, the cloud continues to pass, dripping blood from the seams

Here comes the fiery flood

That carries all the cutters, who write of sadness and burning up

In flames

Digging their graves

The kid who kicks the boy with the dark-rimmed frames

Because he still stutters in average conversation

The girl who'll suck, but doesn't f**k because

Hey, it's what you do nowadays

And if we close the door, and still ignore

The screams and the empty bottles of

Bodies, who line the floor

The world will be flooded by blood-stained poetry

In protest (revolt!) from the

Youth culture
