The Talkers

The Talkers

A Poem by CJ

The Talkers

They speak in whispers,

Behind your back,

When they think you can’t hear.

But what they don’t know,

Is that you can.

And it hurts with every word.

They spread rumors,

About hurtful things,

And say them so well,

That all believe them,

And spread them even more.

Rumors spread,

Like wildfires.

And soon enough,

It comes to the person they are said about.

In my case,

I heard it from the source.

That hurts even more,

To know,

That someone who is supposed to be your friend,

Is the one,

Talking behind your back.

Some people need to learn,

That once they are said,

They can’t take it back.

Sorry doesn’t help,

They can’t get back,

All the feathers they threw into the wind.

i know how you feel, some people pretend to be your friends, but then they go around dissing you. it sux!!
at my old school, i had no real friends, but when i moved to the new school that they built; I found out that most of the people that i poured my soul out to where preps. they did anything to be the top dog, but somehow everyone would fall from number one and have to work their way back up. i loved how you threw in all of the hurt and pain into your poem. you always tell it like it is, and it really touches people.

keep letting your heart speak!!!

This is beautiful, Casey. I know how hurtful people can be about things like this. They speak and judge without really knowing anything about you. I think it was a well chosen subject and was even better because you wrote from experience. Good job!

This is good. I liked the subject. I believe that there are a lot of people out there who don't watch what they say. I thought this poem flowed well. Great work!

Beautiful poem. It flowed nicely, and I can also say from experience that it does hurt when you hear someone talking behind your back, but i cant say whether it's worse when it's someone close to you or someone you barely know. Rumors are indeed a dastardly thing that ruin the closest friendships. HIGH SCHOOL IS THE WORST. Good job with this poem. Keep up the good work!

Yes, some people need to learn to be more careful of what they say. I always try to remember that the 'Talkers', spread their poison largely from fear. And most of them are weak and shallow, and are probably victims of their own methods. I liked this poem a lot because I enjoy hearing talented voices.
Your talent lies in your ability to color and create without using a lot of description. Well done.
