skin

A Poem by Cosmic_Elecktra

Do you know what lies beneath
This cover she has been wearing
Since the day this air embraced her
As a child of its own
And has never forsaken her since then

Do you know what lies beneath
The cover she wears
It's the nakedness which hides
With shame from a world
That is full of critical misunderstandings
About the cover she wears

Without knowing who she is
Yet here you are
Staining her canvas with black criticisms
Claiming you know who she is
Based on the cover she wears

Are you hearing yourself?
Are you listening to what you are saying?
About a stranger you have never seen naked
Stripped down to the core
Baring her insides for the world to see

Yet here you are
Painting her canvas with colours of judgement
Oh you holy one

Here you are dressed in a robe
Once worn by Jesus
Oh dearest child of mother Mary
Dubbed the holy one
Who has never danced under the stars of sin
Drinking from a glass of dirty deeds
Indulging in the needs of the cover that you wear

Have you ever seen her naked?
Undressed without the skin
That has always been a part of her
Perhaps shielding her from a world
Full of cold stares of miscomprehension
About who she is

Dare I ask again
Do you know what lies beneath
The nakedness of her skin?
