AbbigailA Poem by Cosmic RainbowSpoken word poem. I received 80% in July when I submitted this for uni, very happy!
Every
day I’m forced to question if I’m doing the right thing
- when I’m telling her the stories of the mythological Kings,
stories of the goddess and of Mother Nature’s wings, cos It’s
when they’re really young that’s when the learning begins. I tell
her she can see those wings, if she stares long enough at the clouds,
and the sun that’s peeping through them, well that’s Mother Nature’s crown.
Is it okay that I tell her, that Aphrodite’s the
goddess of love? And that if she’s really gentle she will feel
her in every hug. Am I a ‘bad parent’ if I tell her fairies
are real? That she can change her own destiny cos her world
is turning like a wheel " how can it be wrong, for me to explain
about the damage " and the consequences that come from
throwing down that sweet packet, and why all this recycling is
gonna help to save the planet " that Mother Nature lends to
us, and why we’re lucky to have it. I
wanna teach my daughter about spirituality, but I've never been religious, never really believed In
god or in heaven you see I don’t believe in hell And
I’m conscious of scaring her with the stories people tell.
I want her to be open and I want her to be free, I
want her to believe in " whatever she wants to be. <3 Cosmic Rainbow <3 ©Michele McDonnell 2014
