A Look in the MirrorA Poem by Soundsage090A poem of self-discovery.
He told me "But the pain remains." with a distant look on his face. "Man, I feel so alone, this fear is my home, it's my place." Then he stood up, looked at me sighed, and slowly walked away. So clouded by his past, a perpetual night, He couldn't see the light of Day...........................
I let his words linger, then jumped up, and shouted "It doesn't have to be this way for you!" He turned around, and replied "Please, most likely what you'll say, will be nothing new." .......................... Then I told him, "To go far, start near, when faced with any pain. So let go of what you think you know, before you go insane!" He smirks and says, " I'm not going to pretend I solved my problems. Cover-up the troubles, as if I do not care. I've tried it all; Alcohol, drugs, and pills. Not dealing with the feeling of what is really there." ............................ I rose my hand up as a gesture to stop, then he glared at me, then our eyes locked. I stand firm and respond "This will only make sense, if you release your painful pretense. Act towards your trouble as if you don’t know anything about it. Hold on a second before you start doubt it. Letting go of what you think you know puts you in the position to learn what you need to Grow." He stared at me with contemplation coming from his eyes. All the sudden his ego diminished with a look of surprise! ........................., He exclaims "Oh my God, Now I see the true nature of what had a hold of me! I was allowing my fears to be my delusional identity. I chiseled all the mistakes, the story of my past, right on all my bones. A self-imposed prison, to which I held fast, like I was all alone. Now I can see that the door was always open. I can do more than just wishing and hope'n. Wow it's overwhelming the joy of putting all that behind. Once again I feel the freedom Of a new days Sunshine." .................... As it turns out, this was the first Time that I saw a beautiful reflection in the mirror. That scared man vanished with awareness that forgiveness made clear. I was Speaking too Me all along, Now I can sing a true, a New Song! © 2014 Soundsage090 |
