In memory of Rhonda Star and all other victims of hate crimes against the GLBTQ community. Rhonda Star was shot to death in Atlanta, GA on October 29, 1991.

17 years ago today,

you lost your life in a dreadful way.

Broken, beaten, and abandoned,

Lying, face up on the pavement

surrounded, by nothing but your own pain

Crying out for help as they beat you over again

The people pass you by,

they don't listen, though they hear your hurting cry.

You lie there, patiently waiting for the hate to disappear

their life so filled with darkness, they brought to you their fear.

You'd lived a shameless life,

let go of all your lies

through every aching strife

you let go of all your ties.
