I Remember...Raven Wolf (A tribute)

A Poem by Ebb and Flow
"

This is for a pet I lost four years ago that I will never forget. I never got to say goodbye, and to this day if I see his picture I break down and cry. February 25, 2000 - September 23, 2006.

"
I remember...
The day you came home
braying for your brothers
and sisters.
How you drove us
mad.
I remember...
your cute socked paws,
and your batty cota ears.
You sort of grew into them.
I remember...
the day we named you,
for Raven has become me.
I remember...
how you'd nip our butts
should we fight and
bark like a damned fool.
I remember...
how you loved to tear apart
the boxes we had to step on.
You were an odd, but loving
companion.
I remember...
the day you peed
in the river above a waterfall.
I wonder if anyone was
below?
I remember..
all the laughs you bestowed
for you were a silly dog
I remember...
the day I got the call
that you had died.
Oh, what a hit that
was to my poor heart.
The tears they flowed and
would not stop.
I never got to say
good-bye.
You are missed my friend
my dear Raven.

Author's Note

Raven was an amazing husky mix that was so funny and cute. He is the main reason why I emulate ravens today. He was a 100 pound cat, and my fondest memory is of Raven standing on our kitchen table when he was a puppy.

I lost my dog also, he had to be put down because of tumors, what a horror that was, I can identify so much with this piece about Raven and sadness engulfs me...I'm not inclined to have another pet for that reason.
This is beautifully written with heart and soul, our pets become family members and as such they are so missed.

I love animals and this poem about Raven made me cry for your loss and for mine of Priscilla and Chipper..They were my best friends... unconditional love.
This is so touching. You wrote it well too and I am sure it brought back so many happy and fun memories of Raven. Like Tommy says, they do become family.. and when they go it hurts... a beautiful tribute to Raven.

They become like family don't they. I lost a basset hound named McGruff; we had him for ten years, and he died of cancer. I felt it when you said you didn't get to say goodbye, as I didn't get to with him. I didn't get another dog until last year, it hurt too bad. However, now we have two more basset hounds, one named Gus, and the other Woodrow, and they have stolen my heart...

Another Heart Felt Write!
