All Hallows Eve

All Hallows Eve

A Poem by Ebb and Flow
"

Well it's almost that time of year, and my favorite holiday!!

"
From the Druids came forth All Hallows Eve,
Children run around with masks to deceive.
One night a year you can play another,
So many escorted by their mother.
Jack-o-lantern faces alight the way,
and haunted houses simulate foul play.
Demons, and faeries and mad ghoulish things,
Those of good run around with shiny wings.
Pitch forks, and tails and tiny pointed teeth,
Princesses, and knights who carry a sheath.
The roads are filled with laughter and delight,
teens pulling pranks giving old folks a fright.
If you so desire a tasty sweet,
then all you have to say is Trick-or-Treat!

Maybe one of the few first lines may have to be reworked, but I think it's ok for sudden inspiration.

wow, can't even believe the way your brought this together,
the ending catches the reader really off guard- so perfect, and the imagery
was lush, vibrant and so fun to take in, because it captures the spirit of halloween as in the glee. anticipated, frightfully enjoyable
experience of it all, and entwines a bit of history which in all subtlety
gives this poem even more dimension, the best halloween poem
i have read so far

Nice. Yes the first line is a bit stuttered, but not so much as to hamper this ode to halloween.

Definitely got my attention. Nice job. I think, the first two lines could use a tiny bit rewording, otherwise, absolutely beautiful.

I love this, great imagery. I could practically see and hear the children.

Ironic that you sent this to me when something similar popped into my head the other day. Difference is I'm lazy and you actually wrote it down. Nice job. I agree there might be a hang up on the first couple lines and those are the important ones. That's where you suck the reader in. Not sure what I would suggest though.

Halloween is my favorite holiday even though it has been twisted into something totally from it's roots... I swear I always feel a different chill on that day... a very delightfully fun poem, very witty and charming.
