What Cruelty Does

What Cruelty Does

A Poem by Ebb and Flow

I'm but half of a
whole person
whose spirit has been
ripped out
mutilated, crushed
and burned to ashes.
Cruelty and violence
has shaped the smile
upon her lips.
Hatred and evil
shape the lead within
her breast.

Very few penetrate
the battlements
that protect the fractured
person.
Those who do, fall in
love with a person
so full of light that
her smile can
warm the soul,
heal any pain trespassed
against you
and make you feel
again.
