Parables

A Poem by Corset

Parables

I can always tell
did you know that?
A great many packed away under that pillow
each thought
detonates land mines in their wake.

Do not ask questions you do not want the answers to
whether they be truth or lies
the answer will shape an opinion
Opinions oft shape the future.

Lies are seeds of false truths
One lie can devastate a carefully
tilled crop.

Truth is a worm
that will bore its way to the surface
as soon as it rains.

Rain begets life
Life begets opinion
for ill or not, opinion is fodder for
peasants and kings alike.

A sickly field of opinion can devastate
 Nations
Whether for flowers or weeds
we must reap what we sow
except for those few seeds
that fall upon the fallow ground

Those will be in the wind
among rumors.

But wait! My neighbor says that November 21 is the date of Trumps reinstatement. What do we humans know about truth if truth is inseparable from real events....? I have an indoor plant, an arboricola that I swear I heard singing in the morning sunlight. But I needed further proof. So I waited half the night and then half the next morning, and nothing. Not a single sound. Enclosed is my private conversation about how I sat the plant out doors in the cold air of a Michigan autumn . " I told no lies, Mark Train said. There just wasn't any truth to tell". The only truth that remains is the throated, bone inspired love songs of perching birds...........i love and miss you......dana

You speak the truth poetically. I'm all for answers. I try my best to be mature about the answers, as long as the answer is true. I react harshly to lies. I like how you likened truth to worms that come up when it rains, that is an interesting way of putting it. tyfs

Thank you so much! your comments are much appreciated!
This is superb writing & meaningful thinking! V2 blows my mind becuz of how true it is --> most people do not really want to know any answers. They'd rather cling to their opinions. Which is where you go in V5 with such insight. Lies and truth and opinion . . . it can be an unsortable slurry for some! Your thoughts are provoking! (((HUGS)))

Hi there! I love this one! It certainly speaks to the times. We are so divided and it makes me sad. Lies , opinions, self righteousness! Can’t we all just get along? I still prefer the “ we are all in this together” vibe but that’s just me and my hippie soul😉

I have always adored your hippie soul :D
This was a wonderful poem to read and really speaks to this time in history. Since many hold lies as truth in their mind. It is a sickness that erodes their ethics, that is if they ever had any. Thank you for sharing your poem.
