Robins Snow DayA Poem by CorsetHappy Valentine's DaySnow Day It's been so warm here for so long I'd forgotten the chill that seeps into your bones, but the powdery snow, well, it's magnificent. There is a Robin on the limb before me his redbreast the only color to break up the black and gray of the snow born sky. The cold ground has grown a white beard it blankets the warm breast of Earth suddenly grown hard with cold. The apartments across from my window display lollipop balloons growing heavy with the fresh white burden their colors too washed out with age and wear to compete My Santa Monkey stares at me with his beady eyes bright with shining promises he promises all the colors will return soon. I'd almost rather they didn't the bright red stop sign and ever-changing traffic lights direct not a soul on their busy way, the snow falls peacefully almost secretly as if hiding the mysteries of coming spring. I'd forgotten how magnificent the snow and the beating red of my breast. © 2021 CorsetReviews
