The Better HalfA Poem by CorsetI can only seem to accomplish things half way Half way through marriages half way through life half way through lovers half way through books halfway to heaven and probably only half way to hell. I only half sleep and only half dream and only half listen . When people talk , I only hear half the conversation, When stalking others I'll stumble upon, or only half search I'll collect your poems religiously, but I'll fail to hang them on a mirror with half dead squirrels or red lipstick, I certainly will never go to the trouble of gouging the I's out. I will never leave items on the porch and I can guarantee, I would only make it halfway to your house before turning back. I will only half apologize and I will only half mean it. I will say a half good bye but never really go, I will only half way stay. I will only half remember you, but only as the better half. © 2020 CorsetReviews
