Treasures

Treasures

A Poem by Corset

Digging deep within the mind
beneath where all the answers lie
longing to be found like lapidified bones
the body heat ran between the fault lines
where the hills hold onto their secrets
like a souls souvenir
the sun never dreams
that she'd be the Polaroid
of some fossilized frame,
similar to the blood
buried there but not the same
archaeological treasure
but now it's so true
"she will never
 leave her brother"

A friend of mine emailed me with a revelation. "They found life forms on Venus she said". I told her that the temperature on Venus was 860 degrees Far. In the shade ( which there isn't any). So she Emailed me back and said "F**k You dana". Emotions are still a mystery......dana

This is a well-crafted extended metaphor using a ton of references to archeology . . . and it's in the same superior class as the metaphor master Jacob! I love how inventive your expression are -- like nothing I've ever read, yet also not overly mystifying, but crystal clear & thought-provoking. Such strong wordcrafting & thinking behind this! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

I'd never heard of the Croker children and the song choice is therefore more poignant. There have been too many such abuses which are inexplicable other than by way of mental disorder or psychopathy or simple evil. You give this simple piece a sensitive if sad voice as the plight and horror of their years are told.

really like this line "the body heat ran between the fault lines" ... those who embrace an inward journey are very much like the archaeologists now that i think of it ... the self can be very stoney .. and treasured revelations evasive .. closing two lines are a mystery to me .. but some things are just that .. mysteries .. not to be answered ;)

As far as we may dig into our memories, into our minds, I am not sure we will ever
find the answers to why some get to live and some get to die.
the bones will be found deep within the psyche...and the questions will rise from the graves.

so many questions go unanswered, there just sometimes not a "why" of things.
Memories are both treasures and burdens.
This feels like a bit of both.
