Hush Darling

Hush Darling

A Poem by Corset

Hush Darling,

Don't fall asleep.

It was brave to call it your own
every angle of a doll
in many different ways.

Snow capped mountains
blushing at the rising dawn.

I plead guilty
but he never really won.
It doesn't really tear out a toy
does it,
no posable legs or arms
no prize out of the box
no two inch gap to heaven.

We sweep the foundation
try to sleep ourselves to
redemption.

Hush now Darling,
listen,
don't fall asleep.

There is something very haunting in these words.
Don't fall asleep. It might be considered a threat?
But this almost feels as though the speaker is talking to him or herself, comforting themselves wanting to avoid some bad dreams or memories that will come with sleep.

:D hopefully just like what you said and not too scary lol.
This is a very clever poem, gives out different connotations.
I'm thinking child abuse, maybe just because of the doll reference.
It has a ring to it, and as John says, spooky.

This has such a 'spooky' tone to it. It seems the protagonist is warning about nightmares and guilt mixed as one sleeps. Reading still as it makes me think, ponder................................................
