Wings

Wings

A Poem by Corset
"

"Hope". Is The Thing With Feathers is one of the best known of Emily Dickinson's poems. An extended metaphor, it likens the concept of hope to a feathered bird that is permanently perched in the soul.

"
Everyone born has a God spark inside them
every single person has a soul
an awareness of self,
no matter how dark that space is inside you
there lives a gleam of magnificence,
a star that shines, that beckons for truth
for goodness, for mercy, for compassion
it's up to you to listen, to know its there
to search for it,
it is there,
it is
even in what we many consider the least worthy
it is there
longing for you to find it
and to embrace it till it flows forth
with such brilliance that it pours forth
in either voice or tears
when you are on the floor
it is what makes you lift your head
one more time
and time
and time again
It's called love
its purpose
is called
Hope,
give it wings
help it to spread
give it to someone
let it fly.

Thank you for visiting with me Ken :D
Hope, love, and kindness are the missing link in a lot of lives. To renew the mind is the key, and though not always easy to turn, it may open a door to something that hasn't been seen in a long while. Does the universe listen to our thoughts? I believe it does. After years of negative thoughts It may be a challenge but it can be done.

Thanks Chris
Deep stuff here. The Hindus have a word, Atman, that means that part of Brahman (God) which is incarnated in each human consciousness. I think you are getting at something like that here, though the human emotions you attribute to it seem to be more characteristic of the feeling nature, or subconscious mind. I will have to think on this one, because some emotions seem more spiritual to me than others.

Emily wrote often of birds, of hope, of salvation, even though she professed not to believe in God.
I like this poem and the use of soul...not so much as a religious thing, but instead that which is inside us that is our spirit, our own hope...that which we use to move forward on our own...
I'll ask Emily what day it is.
