Loves possibility

Loves possibility

A Poem by Corset

I once told you that love doesn't leave
that the pain from the reasons people sometimes part
will someday lessen, it changes
at one point in your life it's unbearable
shatters who you are
who you thought they were to you
who they thought you were

reality vs possibility
 of what could be
if only...this or maybe that
then eventually it changes
into something else

feelings and memories become retrospect
more tolerable till it evolves into something
you can live with
the mind and body created to react with time
and in time
granting the ability to heal itself emotionally

but it never leaves
it just fades into the background
of your reality now
until possibilty comes round again
to shatter who you think you are
or until you give up trying

you'll never forget but maybe
you will realize that it's not about you
not being good enough
or maybe they really
do think they will find someone "better"
than you
but there is no such thing, there is no one better
than you
but maybe there is someone better FOR you

you won't be able to see it
because the possibilty is so strong
not for a long while
because love never leaves
it just changes
 or maybe we do.

it takes time....but break ups taint our view of love and the person we were in it with...but as years go by...the memories create a kind of affection....and it is safe because the person is long gone...
I had a couple girlfriends....years after we broke up...we were still friends and i went to their weddings.
yes, Love in one form or another, sticks around.
well chosen words you use to define this truth.

I wrote a poem in my head this morning. It's a start.
The struggles of life after love... figuring out who you are now, what was the relationship about. How did it come to this and how did I miss the signs. You definitely put it so expressively within your poem.

Breakups are incredibly painful. I do think time can soften the raw edges and maybe we can see the relationship from a slightly different perspective. I don't think that real love disappears altogether. I believe it remains as a fondness, something that with time we can smile on rather than suffer. Like your poetic expression here Corset. Happy Thanksgiving to you.

Happy Thanksgiving Christine! Thank you!
I've been fortunate enough to know this.

Relationships may come and go, but none of mine have ever ended without love and mutual understanding.

People change. Goals change. But whenever I talk to somebody I've loved it's all still there, like we were just hanging out last Tuesday.

Beautiful, thank you!
true dat girl! as trite as it may sound .. time does heal all wounds .. as they fade the become gems and foundations of Faith .. we can "stand it" ... we haven't "given up" ... its not "hopeless" ... perseverance through painful things without blaming and holding on to anger will change us ... and give us comfort and assurance about who we are and what it is that we need .. and don't need .. the brutal honesty and vulnerability in your poem makes it real for me ... peace and love

Thank you E.
The old saying states time heals all wounds. I think the poem is saying something like that, though a more accurate description might be that time permits a more correct view. Relationship wounds sometimes take years to heal, but they can heal if allowed to do so. It sounds as though the speaker here has grown older, but wiser.
