![]() You were thereA Poem by CorsetCan I change the way the morning betrays me? ...for when I awake you will no longer be there nothing but remembered words and insane doubt at dawns awakening and the unfriendly duplicity... but before that comes, the hour of comfort and belonging Is mine. I refuse the fear through breath and sheer will, tears are held at bay, unworthy of compromise. But You are there... as I tumble past the witch's hour within the warming last of each darkest morn you are always there standing rigid within the trees but ' ...you ARE there and so am I " I say to myself promised, rejected, sometimes with or without apology.
The days honor grows colder within this grasp and I begin to fret and worry; the pain becomes tangible, physical ...and the colors begin to fall and fade Brilliant time to brownish grey. I watch the trees turn black and winter bare they reach, ever they reach as I fight them off. I feel them drop and attach cloyingly, heavy on my back malevolent these shadows whispering Yet I climb as any sturdy Ivy, climbing past, that thin entangled grasp past the ego, and into the charcoal of a mornings early glory to where you are, to where you wait to where you'll find me... awake listening, flying among the moon and stars, Swimming among the mind f*ck of October nights, reaching for you too. © 2019 CorsetReviews
