September

September

A Poem by Corset

The trees began to bend
sussurus with sound
September was so close
I could smell her breath.
A gold medalist
twirling Oak leaves
in her hands,
gathered
in bunches and
scattered them
skyward
with a gust
of wind.

Remember me
he spins
remember me
in
September,
'neath school books
and apricot Essays,
with necklaces
strung of
purple clover

You had me at "sussurus." I think the wise erin-cliberto is onto something here; this has the feel of one of those Sixites songs bewailing the end of Summer and those school vacation flings, though this is more spare (which I think is quite fitting) than those tunes of bygone days. Very nice piece of writing.

Thank you W.K. , much appreciated.
when I read this I got a vision of a man etched in branches...circular like a wreath....I almost felt like stained glass...the cool breeze touched me. I walked a while along the edge of the tree line...until I saw the smoke from the train. There was an animal large, robust....I kept thinking bull....but why would there be a bull in the woods?

more like a bull in a china shop , thank you Queenie.
September brings October. I think both of these months are really beautiful. Such a clever write.

It surely does, thank you , much appreciated.
this reminds me so much of the kind of clarity of images...and the feeling of being there that resonates in emily D's poetry...

really like the last stanza...

this made me think of the Beach Boys' song "girl don't tell me"

but i feel that the person the speaker is talking to here...will definitely not forget.
