Lily of the Valley

Lily of the Valley

A Poem by Corset

He wanted to be able to write of the darker things
that danced inside his soul, I wanted to write
about the love and light in mine,
to have the freedom to express ourselves
without fear, prejudice, and judgement

to speak of love or darkness.

we handed each other our wings and cried
for the shadow they cast, and gasped when it
covered the land in darkness and then lamented
how much I missed the sunlight in the valley of
the Lillis.

But there are two sides to every moon,
and a dark base and a white peak
to every mountain that must be climbed.

...and I will always smile to think of its
measure and the pleasure it gave me to call
him my friend.

...somethings are never lost, only hiding
amongst the clouds

...and freedom always comes with cost.

"But there are two sides to every moon,
and a dark base and a white peak
to every mountain that must be climbed."

How beautifully this is expressed! It is true, opposites do attract, but rarely can they sustain a long term relationship. The concessions are just too costly. Freedom does come with a cost, but sometimes the memories are worth it! Bittersweet loveliness. Lydi**
