WHITE LIE

WHITE LIE

A Poem by Beyond_The_Rainbow

Within the realm of fate,
Lay two enchanted strings,
Red, which bonds to lovers,
And the white, which bonds a heartbreak.

I thought you'd be my red,
My mistake, I only saw the sun,
I tried to dye it red with blood,
Pain with tears, nothing worked.

It took a while to realize,
You can't turn water into wine,
My mind will always wonder,
But my heart will always know.

Finally, I found my crimson red,
And the world is so much brighter,
It pains me it's not you,
But fate is truly cruel.

This was such a neat idea. It kind of had an air of fantasy at first for me with the whole enchanted strings thing, but the more you got into it that started to feel more like a metaphor (? maybe that's not the exact right word but I hope you know what I'm trying to say).
I liked how it also wasn't just a blind acceptance of fate. You tried to change the color of your string because you really wanted a different answer. I've absolutely been there, trying to force things to go the way I want because I'm convinced I know better, convinced that if I just try a little harder it'll work out the way I want. Very relatable in that way. I'm glad you found your crimson thread in the end, even if it might not have been what you originally thought it would be.
