I frowned at them
They glared at me
I scowled at them
They snarled at me
My eyes widened
Their eyes fell out of
their sockets
I screamed at them
They hollered at me
I shot them straight
In the head and they
blew out my brains too
We both bled to death
not knowing each was
equally scared of the
other
This is brilliant! I am so in awe of how you painted this without using any particular grievance that people fight about. This could be ALL grievances. Many people these days shoot to kill with their social media comments, rather than going for a discussion so we can try to understand our differences. This is such a brilliant way of SHOWING instead of telling. This is what it looks like when everyone is locked & loaded, ready to shoot. The ending is the most tragic point of it all. Indeed a moral lesson set within a nice flowing free verse with impact as the to and fro emphasises the equity of such a stand off and its sad consequence.
This reads like the current state of politics in the States...blue and red staring each other down with both seriously afraid of the outcome. In such instances there are no victors. The opponents destroy themselves. It's a very interesting premise, Tania. Applicable to many other areas of life, too. 💛
