Changing Outlook

Everyday I hope for the best.

Hoping for something better with every passing day.

Being a pessimist though I often give up after trying one time.

I give up trying to learn or do something new.

I tell myself I will never succeed at this.

Often I put myself to shame, 

usually because of my pessimistic nature.

A light shines bright for me though.

It lights my path showing me different roads to take.

The light guides me towards greatness and happiness.

Sometimes I am reluctant to take the paths, 

thinking there is nothing for me at the end.

I walk it anyway.

When I reach the end of the path,

I notice that things brightened up for me.

That I have reached something that really makes me smile.

Another light beckons me to go on, 

to continue the paths.

After I reach my destination, I know I am not done.

I still have bright paths ahead of me,

all ready to be walked.

On these paths,

I know I am not alone.

A great, caring, loving voice guides me on my way.

It tells me to keep walking the paths.

I realize from walking these paths, 

that each destination I reach gets better and better.

My spirit rises higher with each new destination.

I have noticed that my outlook on things got better.

I feel happiness and joy.

I eventually see that if I stay on these paths,

things will only get better.

This is a great sign for me.

I shows that my future is bright!
