Vacant 2A Poem by MaryA total rewrite of Vacant (though not finished yet) after some helpful reviews. There's a picture of me and my sister I'm not there she's smiling, all braces and gangly her acid washed denim wrapped around me I'm not there posing, a movie star in the making
on her barely pubescent hip, I sit saucer eyes, all cobalt and glossy all four years and experience of me I'm not there and defensively empty already
the truth in this picture is frightening She's not there to escape from her waking nightmare the child's gone vacant, into hiding She's not there without restoration for twenty years
