In Chains

In Chains

A Poem by Mary

It's the slavery,

that's what she says

and I can agree,

whole heartedly

It is without a doubt

the slavery

that bothers me most

because I've always been that

independant,

free spirited

old souled person

and to become a slave

to be bound in chains

of rigs and scrips and spoons

is humiliating

is degrading

and I just

     cannot

take it, anymore

when against my better sense

I have compromised

all

that is dear to me

family,

my own health

my freedom

and have become

just

another

slave

About
Much of my poetry is about addiction. It played a huge, if not the only, role for many years of my life. I'm now a recovering addict, clean for over a year. I'm also recovering from self-mutilation, w.. more..
