A Poem by Mary

Your intention, the action

inherent in your words,

is beginning to irritate

or in all

brutal

honesty, is beginning

to enrage

A slow, building boil

of scything cynicism

is effervescent

in my veins, and yes

I find it

exhilarating

Dare you

continue, down this

winding and narrowing

path, with your

wobbling sea legs

beneath you

you may find

the consequences

drowning

About
Much of my poetry is about addiction. It played a huge, if not the only, role for many years of my life. I'm now a recovering addict, clean for over a year. I'm also recovering from self-mutilation, w.. more..
