Pay Attention

Pay Attention

A Poem by Mary

I hate the

eyes you stare with

fingers you touch with

mouth you kiss with

teeth you bite with

voice you moan with

brain that you fail to

     listen

     respond

     understand my

eyes I cry with

fingernails I dig with

mouth I frown with

tongue I bite

voice I stifle

     for the sake of

     complacency

     pleasing

     fearing

learned behaviors

     unlearnable

Pay Attention Please!
