Chapter 6

“Hello students, do you why you're here?” The principal asked.

“Nope, but I'm guessing you are about tell us.” Max said.

“You must be Max, the child who has frightened some of the toughest teachers here. You've got quite the reputation and ego, but you aren’t all talk either. At least from what I hear.”

“If you heard any of my teachers slander my name please inform me. I will fix the problem immediately.” Max says mischievously.

“Don’t give them a heart attack, okay Max?” She said.

“I'll try ma’am.”

“Would you please take those headphones out.”

“Sorry I can’t”

“Why is that?”

“It's personal.” Leo says.

“It doesn't matter he can still hear. Back to what you were calling us for?” Said Max.

“Okay. The reason why I brought you guys here is to tell you guys that you've been selected as the few students to go a special training camp. This is not our program so we don't know what you are doing, but don't let them control you guys. Tomorrow is when you depart so start packing(“F**k” Max mutters). Oh, and Christopher will be there as well.”

“You are dismissed, except for you. She says as she points at Max.

                            

                       (Max’s Pov)

“Do you know who I am?” She says as everyone else leaves.

    “Emilee Ford, mother of one, but that's all I know.”

     “Don't tell the others about what I’m about to say…...The island is a dangerous place, I don’t know what will happen there, but be careful. The people behind the forbidden war are the people who run the program.” She said.

    “Why are you telling me this?”

    “I just…need you to….When you get there and they have an evil intent, don't do anything rash just keep them safe. Please.” For just a second many emotions came from her. Sadness, desperation and anxiety. I kept quiet, it seemed like it was better off if I left it alone. Instead I told her to hold her hand out. She did as told and asked

               “What for?”

     Ignoring her question I put my hand on hers. Slowly I took her energy away, if I did it too fast she could have lost a few organs.

     “W-what are yo….” she slumped on the desk. I went close to her ear and whispered.

     “Whatever you are worrying about Emilee, I’m here to help. Your problems keep you down, they keep you from advancing. The shackles bound you to the darkness, you’ve struggled to escape by yourself to no prevail. You’re struggling to continue, your will continue to degrade. Slowly, but surely you know the end is coming, yet you cannot stop it. That feeling, is the worst feeling. I’ve experienced it alone, something that will come with me to my grade. But you don’t have to suffer what I did Emilee. The academy is your home and the people here are your family. I will carry your burden with you. This is a journey, you don’t have to walk alone. For now though I'll be needing somethings from you.

       She tries to say something, but only manages some gibberish before falling asleep. I move her into a comfortable position, wrap a blanket around her and went to work. I went onto her computer which was still on and began searching for-

       Max texted us to go ahead of him because he was helping the principal so we went back to our rooms and packed our things.

The next morning came and I pushed the curtains that were dividing our beds to see Ava, sleeping like a cute puppy. I needed to wake Ava up. I nudge her a little in hopes of waking her up. It doesn't work. I decide to try in a few minutes, I get ready, got breakfast for the both of us and made sure we had everything. I went to try again for round two. Once again she doesn't wake up.I yell her name and she still doesn't wake up.

     So I decided to pull on her blanket. I tugged at it and called out her name. Eventually I pulled it off far enough to see the top half of her body. She was wearing a red oversized hoodie. I looked at the clock and saw that we running out of time. So I repositioned my hands for a better grip and pulled it off her. Bad idea.

   Horrible idea, it wasn't the part where I ended up slipping and falling. It was what happened when I stood back up. Apparently she liked to sleep without pants on, fortunately she had under garment on.

 (Ava’s Pov)

Puppies, kittens and birds everywhere. Suddenly I’m falling, I wake up with a pain in the back of my head. I open my eyes to see Max covering his eyes.

“What the f**k are you doing?” I stand up and stretch. I walk over to the bathroom, putting my hands into my pocket.....just to realize I had no pockets! I look down to see I was only in my underwear. I panic and run to find something to cover myself with. I bump into a blanket and realize Max was blindly handing it to me. Looking the other way Max tells me he already prepared everything. I just needed to change, eat and do whatever.

At this point I could have been mistaken for a tomato. I was blushing while trying to change. Once I changed and brush my teeth I walk out of the bathroom.

“Did..you know..see?”

“Nah, I did not see anything white.”

“You saw me! Didn’t you!”

Max starts whistling his way out the door with his luggage. I grab the back of his shirt and pull him towards me. He turns and gives me a hug. He gets closer to my ear and whispers.

“I’ll carry the burden, so that you guys can smile and have fun. I'll use my life as your lifeline.”

I froze, I didn’t know how to react. Many thoughts went through my head. What did he mean? What burden? As I went to ask what he meant, I realized he had already disappears.

I was the last one on the plane. Everyone waiting inside the private jet, eating and talking. I looked for Max, but I couldn't find him. I was tempted to tell Eliza or ask Leo, if he had any clue what Max meant, but decided against it. Something in me told me that they wouldn't know and I would find my answer soon enough.

       We played games on our phone and with cards which Leo had brought. Eventually we got bored of the games and started talking. The subject was what we were going to do on the island, where were we living and etc.

  Finally we were close enough to see the island from our windows. It looked like what you would expect an island to look like other than the giant building in the middle of it and the landing runway. It looked amazing, the blue ocean with the setting sun. It only took ten minutes for us to land. We were greeted by staff members of the island and were escorted to the building.

Each of us had our own rooms this time. Everyone went to their rooms to unpack and prepared for the next day to begin freestyle training as told by the staff. Morning came soon enough and I got ready to train on the beach. There was a knock at the door I went to open the door and Max was there telling me to hurry up. We rushed down to the beach to see everyone else walking towards the training area as well.

“Always the last ones.” Said James.

“Well sorry that I take care of myself properly before I leave.” I say sarcastically.

We were training for the whole day doing running drills, upper body strength, practice battles and etc. Max told us he going to explore the island the whole day. Eliza wanted to do a mock battle so we got into position and had Leo be the referee.

“Alright, ready….set….Go!”

     At the signal the battle began. I summoned Excalibur with my hand as Eliza began to turn herself into metal. Eliza started her first attack making the ground around her metal, she extended her metal hand and sent it flying to me. I blocked it with my force field and I started running towards her. As I was closing in on her she smashed the ground causing metal to fly everywhere I stopped before I the broken ground and held my sword in parry position attack.

        Neither side could hit each other. Yet I had the advantage because Eliza couldn't break through my forcefield. I continued to push her back. Eventually she was backed into a tree. I used the few seconds she used to get out of the tree's path and striked. I cut through the metal and I secured the victory. Christopher went and healed our minor wounds.

                       (Max’s Pov)

     I’ve been walking around this paradise island for hours. It seems too perfect… There’s a strange tension between the staff and the animals aren’t acting right. Animals from the wilderness don’t act so strangely. I can’t explain it, but there aren’t animals in a way. As I continue to ponder on the subject, I trip over a tree root and fall on the ground. The sound of metal getting banged close to me.

      I look around cautiously, I stand up and scan the area. I keep looking until I can confirm no one around me. So the only option left is below or above. I stomp my feet to hear the same metal sound. I put my hand on the ground, I release energy, the ground shook five feet in each direction. I walk around in the twenty five feet area searching for an entrance.

      Eventually I find a lever in the bush. I pull it and a opening appears behind me. I climb the ladder down, as I reach the bottom I see soldiers, scientist and other workers walking. Thank you invisibility!

                        (FlashBack)

        “I know you’re following me.” I say looking behind me.

        My energy returns to me a bit longer than earlier. I chase him down, eventually I grab him.

        “Lose the invisibility.”

        The guy turns visible and says “How'd you know?”

         “In a way I can use echolocation. Plus earlier you touched my hoodie slightly. Now you’re going to help me turn invisible or I’ll kill you.”

         “How do I even do that? My power only makes me invisibility.”

        “Don't worry about that, just do what I tell and you’ll live.” I say as I play with an energy ball.

           “O-okay.”

                          (Back To Reality)

           I wander around until I see a worker walk into a room that said classified. I follow him through the door to see scientist hooking a little girl to devices and experimenting on her.

“What the hell is this s**t?” I say to myself.

I took a better look at the girl, she had blonde hair, and two different colored eyes. Red and blue, she has heterochromia.

     “Leo? You there buddy?”

     “What's the problem now?”

      “Why would you think there is a problem?”

       “Because the only time you use telepathy is when there is a problem.”

       “Well there is some where s**t going where I am, use your telepathy to find my location and mark it. I’ll explain later, don’t tell anyone.”

        “Okay..OW.”
