Chapter 5

 “Where do I sit?” Max says as he was the last one on the bus. A chaperone told him he was supposed to be told via online message where he was to sit. Max decided that meant to sit wherever he wanted. So he took the liberty of sitting next to me. He greeted me and made some small talk. Then after a while, we were told the trip was going to take nine hours. So we decided to get some sleep.

        Putting my earbuds in I soon fell asleep. Dreaming about my dad whom I haven't seen for two years. In the dream, my dad was trying to tell me something, but I couldn't hear him. I tried to read what his lips said, but all I could manage is; Important, friends and Max. Suddenly my dad disappeared and I woke up.

      When I woke up I was leaning on Max’s shoulders. Max notices I've awoken and says.

       “You’re quite cute when you're sleeping.” As he says that he shows a photo of me sleeping on his shoulder. I blush and looked away.

       “Delete it please,” I ask knowing well that it probably won't help.

        “Nah Ima keep it. It’s a great picture.”

         “Don't show anyone then.”

        “I'll use it as my background.”

         I took what I got and went back to sleep. This time leaning against the window. I dreamt of nothing, just the void. I was shaken awake by Max. We arrived at the destination and apparently I missed the game plan. So he explained that seat partners were also room partners.

        He said that the academy arranged it so girls were to be with another girl, but since Max decided to join us by his own decision he wasn't apart of the arrangement. It gets even better though. The place was rented out already and everyone already had a roommate.

         Max and I head up to our room which was on the 7th floor. We split the room and the chaperones provided us curtains for privacy. It was around five so the chaperones decided to let us wander around for the rest of day and have fun for two hours. We are supposed to meet at the dining hall at seven.

       I texted Eliza and she told me that Leo, James, and Christopher were in the main lobby waiting. So Max and I headed down there. The whole time I had to keep Max in check. He would press random buttons, go into random rooms or ask me ridiculous questions. He was very curious and couldn’t stand still for longer than a few minutes at most.

   Finally, we reached the main lobby and there Leo was listening to music as usual. James and Christopher were arguing with each other about who is stronger and lastly, Eliza was on her phone. Leo looked at us suddenly and got the attention of the others.

          We were talking in the main lobby when suddenly everyone in the lobby heard their phone rang. Everyone got a text from the chaperones telling us that we had an assembly in the auditorium. The meeting was called to talk about where we are and what we are going to do. We headed towards the cafeteria and when we got there all of the students were waiting for the chaperones. We look to see there was only one chaperone which was Christopher. He looked confused and kept looking around.

         We found five seats for the all of us, but when we sat down there was one empty seat. Max was missing. Then something else got our attention. A strange sound could be heard throughout the room. Suddenly the lights went out and the next thing we know a hole is blown through the wall. People were screaming and running over each other in the dark until the lights came back in. Everything was silent as we looked around to see what caused the explosion.

       A group of a dozen men was there on the stage holding Christopher captive. They had their power ready and aimed at the students. One of the men stepped out and said.

      “Alright, students let's play a game. Hot potato.”

      He throws a rock at one of the students and it explodes. People scream and panic.

    “Who are you?” Christopher said through gritted teeth.

      “That's something you don't need to know.” As he says that he orders his men to start grouping up the students using force if necessary. Some of the students didn't cooperate so easily. They fought back, but each time they were subdued easily. The men put a barrier over Christopher and ignored him.

   The four of us came to the conclusion that we couldn't beat them. Following their orders is the best option at the moment. Everyone was being herded to the left side and then were trapped by a barrier. Christopher was still struggling yet he hasn't used his powers.

    They started to search for something in the auditorium. Eventually, the group of men found something. A secret safe hidden under a seat. They opened the safe and there was a bottle with a green color to it.

      An explosion blew up part of the roof of the auditorium. A guy dropped from the roof. He appeared to be the leader of the men.

    “Where is it?” He barked at the men.

     The men carefully handed the bottle to the leader. The leader took it and laughed.

     “I’ve finally got it! With this, I can take over the country!” As he did that he drank the green essence. When he finished. A blast of power came from him. It blew away what was left of the auditorium’s wall. He laughed. He threw fireballs everywhere. They devastated the barrier.

      Some of the students who had a bit of fight left in them were attacking the barrier in unison, but it wouldn't crack. The four of us joined in with them. I chanted the calling and summoned Excalibur. James was continuously throwing lightning while Eliza was trying to punch through it with her metal hands.

       Despite our efforts, we couldn't get through it. We tried until we were exhausted. The ringleader laughed.

     “You can't destroy that with that kind of power. The barrier absorbs power and uses it to buff its own defense. You've been making it stronger the whole time. Haha, idiots. Even with the power buff, I'd have a hard time breaking out of it.” He laughs as he continues to destroy the place.

     Suddenly two of the henchmen are blown away and smash into the barrier which wasn't affected.

      “Which idiot wants to challenge me?” The leader asks readying his fireball.

       

       “I don't, but I know someone that does.” The debris clear and the person that walks out of it is Max. “Heard you were a bit thirsty Leo.” He grins.

        Leo returns the grin and says “Took you long enough.”

       “Stop him! It could be another power buff!” The leader barks at his men. The men all rush towards Max. Super strength, ice shards, lead bullets and other powers fly at him. Max calmly continues walking.

        As they are about to make contact Max obliterates them with an energy ball. The men are sent flying and are put to an eternal sleep. As Max reaches the barrier he puts his left hand on the barrier and closes his eyes.

   

      After a few seconds, he opens his eyes and says. “Allahu Akbar.” The barrier cracks instantly. Max takes the bottle in his hand and tosses it to Leo. Leo opened the bottle pours it on his hand.

       “Alright let's have some fun.” Leo puts his earbuds in and begins his attack. He floods the room. The students join in the fight and begin their onslaught. Soon enough the henchmen are wiped out. Leo sends the last one flying with a water blast.

   Some students got cocky and went for the leader. They were decimated by his fireballs. The students worked in unison to defend. We couldn't get to him. He was slowly breaking through our defenses while laughing maniacally.

   “Max? Help us!” I say as I see him just watching.

    “I was told not to. As I said earlier I am not the challenger. He is.”  

    As I was about to ask who, the leader was sent flying into the ground. The rampage of fireballs ceased. Many students collapsed from the exhaustion. A man was flying where the leader once was. Something was familiar to him.

    “Who is that?” James ask.

    “He's the Superman of this world. With super strength, flying abilities and a brain few can match. He was once the face of the Oblivion clan. He is Evan Silvia.” Max says while looking up at him.

       Dad!? Why...How is he here..?

My dad flies down fist ready to destroy what is left of the ringleader. He smashed the ground next to the leader’s face. Destroying the ground nearby. The vibration from the punch causes him to lose consciousness. Christopher was released from the anti-power barrier with the help of my  dad.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    

Two days have passed since the incident, everyone was recovering from the injuries they got. I was happy that I saw my dad yesterday since I haven’t seen him for years. Him and I were catching up on what has been happening while he was gone, but at the end of the day he had to go on another journey.  

The next morning Leo & James went to wake us up since we were running a bit late. When he reaches the door and is about to knock he hears;

“F**k me!”

“Okay, okay coming over.”

”Ow! Too fast, slower Max. Are you trying to rip it!?”

Leo & James bursted into the room all flustered and James yells;

“What the f**k is going on!?!?!?!?”

“Finally the b*****d is up.” Max says while he finishes zipping up my dress.

Max and I turn to see James and Leo flustered. They were freaking out while we were standing confused.

“What the f**k were you guys doing?” James asked.

“Zipping up her dress? Because it was too tight for her to do it herself?” Max responds.

“But-, wha-, ho-, oh f**k it. Lets just go…” James said.

Still confused we followed them. Max and Leo kept looking at each other, while grinning on the way to the rest of the class. We reach the cafeteria in the building. We went to eat breakfast, while eating the intercom beeped. The announcement said;

“Max, Leo, Ava, James and Eliza please come to the main office at this moment.”

      

“Did we do something?” James said while people were oooo-ing in the background.

“I probably did.” Max says.

“We didn't do s**t though, I think.” Eliza said.

“Let's find out I guess.” Leo says turning towards the door.

As soon we arrived at the main office the principal was there waiting for us, I thought that we’re in trouble so i saw James shaking in fear when we saw her.
