Chapter 1

Students were entering the conference room, excited to begin their adventure at the academy. The introduction was about to commence. I sat three seats to the left of the principal who was a friend of my dad. To the right of him were important members of the staff team and to my left was Christopher. Christopher has been at the academy since he was ten and was a prodigy in his younger years. Ten years of experience *makes him one of the tops of the academy here. Twenty years old, brown hair, freckles and tall, he didn't look bad, but not my type.

As the last students found their seats, the principal stood up and headed towards the pedestal. All the students went silent as they noticed him waiting. The principal started his speech and gave them a virtual tour of the school. They would have free time later today to explore anyway. As he was talking, Christopher was trying to get my attention.

            “Ava, take a look at the students. It might come to help you later on to know some of them.” He whispered.

            “Okay,” I responded confused.

          The students left the conference room when the introduction was over. They were allowed to explore for today. I went to go meet up with my friends who are probably somewhere having a contest, they were quite competitive. I find the two in the dueling room, arguing over who was better and who won.

       

I call out to them and the two of them stop their arguing and look towards me. They continue their argument as they walk towards me. The two had their differences, the brunette was called Eliza and she likes to answer to the boy’s catcalls with a punch. The musclehead was called James.

“I clearly won that. I outsmarted you in every aspect, you imbecile.”

         “You ran like the b***h you are.”

 

“It's called a strategic retreat, you meathead,” Eliza responded, clearly tired of arguing, but wasn’t going to back down.

          I chuckled and found a table for us to sit at. We all sat down and ordered some food. While we waited for our food, I explained what happened in the introduction. As the waitress was being our drinks, she bumped into someone and spilled our drinks over him. Unluckily she bumped into the wrong person, it was Big Ben or that's what we called him. His real name was Benjamin and the guy was friends with a rowdy bunch.

           “You f*****g b***h!” He angrily grabbed her by the collar and threw her. He was quite strong and big (hence his nickname). She flew through the air to be caught by a guy.

          He had blonde hair which you barely see with his hood on, he had devious blue eyes and a look of disappointment. He was forced to drop his food to catch the waitress, who was scared, yet thankful, he put the waitress down and as he did that Big Ben walked over towards them. He towered over both of them, the waitress was cowering in fear.

         The staff was trying to stop the conflict before it progressed any further, but the huge crowd prevented them from getting there. My friends and I were about to go and stop the conflict when Christopher stopped us.

         “Don’t intervene, just sit back and watch.” He said.

         “Wait when-” I tried to ask, but he cut me off.

         “Remember when I told you to take a good look at everyone Ava?”

         “Yeah.”

         “Do you remember him from somewhere?” He said as he pointed to the blonde hair kid.

           I thought back and then remembered, I saw him in one of the rows of the new students. As Big Ben went to grab the waitress’ collar. The boy stopped Ben by grabbing his hand. Big Ben turned his attention towards the boy whose head was in a downcast.

         “I'll beat your a*s if you try to be her white knight.”

         The boy chuckled. “White knight? You got the wrong idea, you moron. I had to drop my food because you threw her at me. The boy finally looked up, the glare in his eyes. They seemed to glow blue. Ben who was enraged at his response, went to throw a punch. The wind blew in every direction as the punch contacted him.

       He used his super strength. As the wind settled down. The boy’s hood fell yet, he was still standing his hand blocking the punch. Ben was panicking, he tried to pull his hand back, but it didn’t budge. The boy put his free hand in front of Ben. Suddenly Ben was thrown back towards the other side of the room(which was 100 yards long and wide).
