Night That ScarsA Poem by Ziril Sorie
That night where you wish everything is quiet
But it's not You wish that things are different But its not You wish you could have done something, anything But you couldn't You try to drown out the sounds of screaming from the other room You can't You can't.... You can't take it anymore, The fights, the late nights You creep out of the bedroom by yourself Silently down the hall Trying to not make a sound It's not that hard considering the noise You see things flying and crashing You want to cry out But you can't Fear that you would be the one being thrown at You watch quietly as the scene unfolds before you Beer bottles smashed on the walls Railings destroyed Your mom is crying and you want to go hug her and tell her everything is going to be alright But you can't In reality, You can't You can't face the monster that is before you That ruined your lives What can you do when you only six Nothing Nothing at all when he leaves you hug your mom and she tells you everything will be alright But it's not Your older brothers come out and say the same thing but you may be six but you know better You know that nothing is alright and nothing will be alright Ever Because it just not
