Yo

Yo

A Poem by CookeCody

Yo

A poem won't change the world and neither will a song
Poems are songs and they're too short, too limited
They're just my ideas
Stories, however, change the world every day
The story of the Roman Empire is a great one
It sits in our library in a thick hardcover
We browse and hum and wander the shelves
Stories are life, poems are emotion
Love can't create change, only loving people can
Hatred itself is benign until a life full of it awakens
So when I write, no matter what it is, I try to make a point
I start with a poem and turn it into a story
It's very hard, but, then again, no one will read every poem
They won't
They won't because for every person there's a justifiable poem
But in the case of stories, only the best get recognized and remembered
There are some, some acknowledgeable poems
But those poems either were stories or somehow created stories
Stories are life, poems are emotion
What was man compared to his feelings?
