Night's Love

A Story by CookeCody

Night's Love
Two people loved each other very much. Every night, be it a warm night or a cold night, a clear night or a stormy night, but every night they met and conspired against the enemy of life and it's legion of misfortunes. Together they longed to exist under the dark violet canopy with nothing but the present before them. Like all love, the sweet and drooling honey that accompanies the promises made between lovers' smiles is what slowly tugged them back together every night, lulling them towards one another like a gently rocking sea of sweet dreams. Words were spoken and transformed to jewels that hung in the sky like stars. But soon, so soon, the constellations of their future shifted with the atmosphere and was forgotten behind the clouds until finally all that remained was a single light- the moon. This monument to their desires was the mooring upon which they anchored their love; however, as has been since nature's birth, the moon changed. It waned and waxed, it shrunk and grew, it turned and tipped, until one day, the only thing that was holding the two lovers together was an empty place where there once was light. An area darker than the rest of the endless black had replaced their anchor, their joint of joy. Now two hearts spiral aimlessly amongst the stars, grasping at thoughts long mistaken as life and happiness, lost in tears of unfulfilled dreams.
