School at 50

Taking weekend classes, am I learning or just losing time

Setting in this room today

     While the hours fade away

          My mind wonders and wanders away

               Is my time just wasting away.....?????

                              Why am I here??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Surely your bravery and gumption will pay off. I thought about going on and getting the education I never had after retiring from the Navy, but didn't think I had what it took to be a student again.

It is not easy to return to school; however, being that you are studying what it is you have a heart for and not what they are telling you that you must makes all the difference in the world. I wish you luck and can attest to that fact that it is never too late as I graduated Undergrad with a lady who was 68 and completing her Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice for a promotion at work.

This is true; but there are days that make me wonder. This class today is Ethics and that brings up so much interesting questions!

You are fortunate to be able to take classes.
I took courses when I was passing through 57 years.
I enjoyed them very much.

Yes, fortunate to take classes; should have done it when I was in my 20s right out of high school. I was a stubborn teenager who was having a temper tantrum; would have been much easier. I do enjoy them I have to say; however, my brain does not work as it did and it takes more thought to get the same process. But, it is still working and since I am almost half way done I refuse to quit now.

We older people have problem of memorizing.
But we have more advantage of understanding the underlying concept and
language.
So,we don't need to worry
You may be wondering over what would be the benefit of the degree at such later stage of life.The answer may be the we are pursuing knowledge throughout life and that is our recreation.

Ah, the goal. There is that. I have a definitive goal for my educational completion. The state in which I live requires a certain level of completion to start the business I look to start. So...that is the true reason I go. Often just placing the thoughts on paper make for clarity.

But,we must not yield to any negative criticism.
