![]() Standing in the ShadowsA Poem by Constance Payne![]() Life truly is a matter of perspective Inspired by Bamboo shoots and their struggle for the light![]()
As children we are someone's daughter
someone's son baby sister or brother Standing in the shadow of those who have gone before Learning to yearn for the sun Reaching above Towards the light that filters through Straining to push between those who stand above us Casting their shadows over the light we try to spread The darkened door that leads to our success hidden By the greatness that comes before by those who Come before us in this life by fate and timing Pushing we gain strength Knowledge, and the ability to one day Stand tall and one day too We will cast a great shadow for those Who looking up to us see that all Possibilities are within our reach if only We believe that we deserve to feel the sunlight.
