THE REASONS 

the reasons why

i do espy

it is true that

our friendship always flies

the hope and love

belies

a heart

so authentic

our soul connection

is not just a theory

it's greatness invented

 

dear sister know

your heart is so

the reason you are wonderful like gold

with a kindness

a caring that is authentic

a gift that will never grow old

because it is kindness recieved

knowing that you meant it

 

when i feel down

you always make me recall brighter things

you help me remember

i can overcome anything

 

when i am blind

sister

you give me strength

to hope, to believe, to try

you encourage my soul

with a genuine embrace

that only a true friend

knows how to give

even in in days and times

when it seems things are going

awry

 

when i was wasting away

the length of my minutes and days

you reached me

through

my fortress of pride

and gave me the wings and courage

to fly again

you helped show me the way

and i am still learning

 

you are so ...

the reasons you must know

you are the one who made me believe

that i had nice eyes, bravery

and creativity inside

so as not to grieve

all of my life

you have always been so concerned

with improvement and happiness

and made me care for others

and want to write poetry

 

so please know

it is not about how beautiful and well recieved

you are

or how talented and the successes of fame

it's about the true kindess you share

when it was never asked for

that sustains, strengthens

and becomes love made actual

 

and so if this poem was a fortune cookie

it would tell you the goodness you've put

out into the world

comes back to you

and your generous spirit

holds a place

in everyone you've touched

but i will always love you anyway even

because i am your brother

and you don't have to help anybody

to be loved

 

and i am so touched

to see you smile throught it all

and Karyn it seems you are

smiling alot these days

and so am i!

so please let the message of this poem

as pure and heartfelt and true

as it really is

bless your days with positivity and confidence

to know

that no day is wasted

as long as you are here too

on my planet Earth
