Horizons (And I Need You in The Dark of Night)A Poem by Pablo ColeA leaf falls, a teardrop For Summer's dead again A Soulless shadow Can't get the girl Left to express malaise Horizons feel forced Wars make the machines Time has a way of settling Hurt and violence stand ~~~~~~ Heart can't find words But today finds an independent mind My limbs are tools that work We lie about in naked form Everyone's enjoying their body Soft touch Spasms of honesty Erotic, negotiating Mouths open delightfully Horizons feel distant ~~~~~~ And more the leaves fall I stand unburdened Today's fantasies are free Riding the dead beat ~~~~~~ Dark clouds heavy on my mind I've felt like I never knew anybody I've felt that pain inside me I've known what it means to be lonely ~~~~~~ When I sin I go halfway When I am wrong I go much too far ~~~~~~ Horizons filled with hope beautiful Shock me again with my disorder Breach again my fortress of hate and insecurity I just stand around with a stupid grin Dumb to meaning ~~~~~~ Help me To understand I dream we could be together In my imagination we share These new anomalies of life, love, and opportunity I picture God's description of us History and clothes unfashionably awkward What is right for the ordinary boys and girls? Sometimes it is just in the reaching!!! ~~~~~~ Feeling pure and sacred And alas: a new tear! Horizons expand boundless under a new loving sun Wild and free, wide and free Blue or red It's strange in my mind And I need you in the dark of night! © 2014 Pablo Cole |
