To write a poem in one day

In one hour

In one measure

In one calling of the heart

To a beautiful and loving sister

Is an easy thing to do 

With a heart filled with gratitude, love and appreciation

Hope strong filled with rememberance

And all the things she has done

Of all the loving there was to give

A poem is so little

Is such an easy thing to do

 

When hope seemed to be gone in me

She gave music to this life's song freed

Brave to show me what I lacked

And put this soul train on its tracks

Hm was that a necessary cliche to heed?

A teacher - she showed I can be original on my own

And not focus just on so very much negative energy

Building a bridge to a  heart where love was true success

Something small can be so meaningful

An intent a purity to a triumph of love's honest goal

A generosity of caring

Magnificant and more

An an example through all these years

Despite all of the tragedy and failure

 

If there never was a you, Karyn

I could go through life and not think about it 

Not only would it be boring

You showed me rich with the will to do the right thing

Always sing the sincerity and pure affection with purpose

And not to squander the time of the precious soul 

Illustrated with the job of human life

Even as the fool I can be you gave me pride

A sense of family through the empty years challenge

To express myself differently 

To see there is so much love

 

Ah yes I was playing stupid with dreams of cool

Never comprehending the active miracle

I could be honest, decent, as Dad would want

Despite class lines, despite percieved failure

Yes, dignified without needing

Awashed in my heart, returning to light

So I can see and know what to be

Dear sister you awoke me 

To a world that is more than black and white

 

Among the chosen in my heart

Seeing more than an adequate life

More than common bravery and common compassion

A sense of family that heals

Salvation faith confident and assured

Happy for no apparent reason

A sense of goodness, a map to the years

And as much as I miss you 

I accept the problems of the world

I know my place 

This time arond I'm going to make it fun

This year I have a castel of a home in my heart

 

Playing the poet is easy

With a subject such as you

And all that you have done

Is in the great respect that you in I have won

I hope this poem gives you peace of mind

As you have given peace to my heart  

And a home aligned with eternity
