Shifting Shadows/Fading Echoes

Shifting Shadows/Fading Echoes

A Poem by Connor Dillivan

Run along a shifting scape
Bloodhounds howl for your blood
Looking back there's nothing there
But shifting shadows
Fading echoes
Rustling strips of shadow black
Wind and trip and drag you down
Lost inside your haunted mind
In shifting shadows
Fading echoes
While awake at last you see
Hope is there within your grasp
Just don't let it sink beneath
Those shifting shadows
Fading echoes
Here at last is one who hears
Silent screams of silent fear
Words of comfort on his lips
But shifting shadows
Fading echoes
Rise above and swallow whole
Your life and light, your heart and soul
Bloodhounds drag you back into
The shifting shadows
Fading echoes
