One Strange Encounter

A poem about how people affect your life

The change they made may not be obvious,
Months or years will pass and your mind,
Will drift back to their words or movements.

How did that friendship end?
Or perhaps it was one strange encounter
I can't remember the details
They taught me a lot though

I guess that was their purpose
Drifting into my life for a moment
I didn't realise it then

I suppose that happens a lot
People flit in and out
Knowingly or unknowingly
Affecting my life

A reason, a season or a lifetime

I think even the negative people
Can have a positive impact

Maybe the reason you're in my life
Isn't the reason I expect.
