Juice Box

Juice Box

A Poem by Briana Noël Manzano
"

The way people treat trivial objects such as a juice box is often how people treat their relationships...

"

I sip you slowly,

Drinking apple-flavored comfort through the hole I poked with my straw.

You guard my lunch.

You satiate my thirst.

You keep me safe.

I sip, sip, sip the life you offer up to me,

Draining your apple-golden blood from your cardboard carcass.

The straw runs dry;

Your stomach is sunken in;

You are empty.

I frown in disapproval and throw you away.
