La PrimaveraA Poem by Briana Noël ManzanoA poem about the changes love can work in a person's life. How a happy relationship can make an optimist out of a pessimist. <3“La Primavera” Some days still ache, Watching the world
through a lens of removed cynicism Like absentmindedly sipping
venom, And the tiring task of
staying awake… Many a sentence is
left- But inside me there is
a tickling in my chest, Bright and new and
growing. Though days still pass
which aren’t the best, A change in me is
showing. Albeit no trials have
departed from my meager life, So much the heart grows
stronger when a companion shares your strife. A little seed planted
deep within- Just conversation at
first. But kiss by kiss and
things akin, The seed began to
burst. Clamping its roots onto
the bones of my feet, It boroughed betwixt my
toes. Drawing nutrients from
the dreams of my sleep, This growing love never
slows. Affectionate vines
twine around my heart, Moving through my
ventricles, And every pump of blood
so tart Fuels the lively
tentacles. Filled with the passion
you’ve planted in me, On your every word I
dote. And so the pink flowers
beneath my cheeks Bloom and flourish with
hope. © 2015 Briana Noël ManzanoReviews
